Venues in Florida for Irish Folk/Trad music.

I am looking for places to play music professionally in Florida and I would greatly appreciate any ideas or contact info on music venues y’all may have on the matter.

My wife and I have recently parted ways (read absolutely crushed here) and I am left stranded in Minnesota. This sad situation has put me in a position to get back into full time performance and I believe this will be the route I take upon my return to the state.

While I will not limit myself to playing solely in Florida, I think starting there is best for the time being.

My Louisiana-born sister-in-law wears sweaters when she visits, even in the summer. I don’t see what the big deal is. :wink:

I’ve not been to Florida, but doesn’t the Walt Disney outfit have some kind of facility there with an international theme? You might try to get a job playing there.

I think Disney has some pretty stringent rules about employee behaviour. Not sure if JES could hack it for more than a day or two. :wink:

Giving up on the veterniary stuff, Joe? Maybe you could get in with one of those pirate-re-enactment troupes. Plenty of plunder to be had, they say. Arrrr!

Have you gotten in contact with Maze up in Gator Country?
I don’t know him personally, except for a few emails, but I figure he might know. An Triur has been around a wee bit up there.
Maybe he has some ideas.

I don’t have any venues, but I wanted to let you know you and your wife are in my prayers. Did you check the city specific forum to see if any locations were mentioned there? I know those are sessions, but you’ll know those locations appreciate ITM.

I’m going to be in St Pete mid october. I’ll bring my pipes and play after the meetings!!! I got my bass drone working- see Martin P post. Need to tell him!!!
