Whistling in Tampa

Anyone know of sessions/music shops in the Tampa area. I am visiting there in early May and would like to partake in anything that is going on…

Thanks

Sorry, you’re out of luck dude - there’s nothing here. It’s a wasteland really. The only session is over in St. Petersburg (about an hour away), on the 3rd or 4th sunday of the month (4th I’m pretty sure). Well, most months anyway - sometimes even that one doesn’t happen. At any rate, if you’re going to be here early in the month, you’d likely miss it anyway.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this town sucks when it comes to Irish Music :frowning:

Loren

Thanks Loren…

That’s too bad…oh well I’ll just have to play in my hotel room…

Tampa? Where’s that?

Hey Gypsy Gerry,

Man I love Galway, but that’s another post. About Tampa, I recently moved near Tampa and yes, the Irish scene is lacking but not dead or a waste land entirely. Please e-mail me backchannel at sunshinesdaughter@yahoo.com if you’d like more info, I’d love to jam with ya! In terms of sessions, the one in St Pete is good, on the 4th Sunday of each month at Annie Moore’s. There is also a small, informal session on the second Sunday of each month at McSwiggen’s in Bradenton, about 45 minutes from Tampa. 4 Green Fields is a nice Irish pub in Tampa. So it isn’t great here, but there is Craic to be found if you are up for lowering the expectations! I’d be happy to meet you at an Irish pub/session if you like, it beats the hotel room certainly!

Cheers,
Jill

Oh, THAT Tampa!
