Hey everyone,
Sorry if I’m annoying everyone with another one of those NAME-THAT-TUNE threads, but I NEED to know. HA! This link, http://www.bcpipes.com/NoTitle.mp3, was posted in the thread concerning Childress’s flat set, but I didn’t want to screw up everyone’s train of thought by asking my question there…
So does anyone know the title? Or is the name of the file right on?
Thanks!
Joey

Hey everyone! I got this email from Bruce about the tune this morning. I don’t know how to do that indent trick, so here she is, normal style:

Hello Joey,
Thanks for the kind words! I love getting emails like yours. Surely makes my day.
Hmmm… The tune in question: That is the last of four tunes in the set Liam O’Flynn call’s “The Humors of Carrigaholt set”, on his “The Piper’s Call” album. He doesn’t give a name for it, but it says in the liner notes that he learned it from Cathal McConnell, who in turn, learned it from Donegal fiddle player Johnny Doherty. I think I have been told several times the name of the tune, but it slips my memory every time. I think it would be safe to call it “Doherty’s Reel”. It is probably about the funnest reel in the world to play. When a guitarist or bizouki player picks up on the long suspended A in the first of the B part, it is pure magic.
I will be replacing those sound samples soon with something more like a direct recording of my pipes. Instead of the accompanyment and processing in the current recordings.
Keep scrolling on in the Chiff and Fipple department, and thank them all for thier interest for me.
Cheers,
BC

Nice guy, huh? Seems like all the pipers I’ve met so far are. 'Been wanting to tell everyone here how much I appreciate the attitudes and how everyone handles themselves on this forum. Go a click away and lately you can see otherwise, if you follow me.
