Strange...

I just looked at the memberlist and noted that we have 1832 registered members on the board. Then I saw one that had no posts. Out of curiosity, I sorted the list by number of posts from least to greatest and found that we have 302 registered members who have never posted.

So the question I have now is: why register if you’re not going to post? You can browse the forums without registering. Would any of you zero posters care to break your silence and explain? Or any of the regulars care to venture a guess?

Too much time on my hands,

Jim

maybe they are Porridge’s little helpers

I, I am one of them, a 0-post member. You see, I really just lurk.

Claudine, see how it goes, when I mentioned silent members ?

Now, Jim, I still like the idea of people registering, like to feel membership, even if if, after this step, they shy away from being as loud as some Frenchmen
OK, it’s unrational ? But, what fun is rational ?

Do you have to register to get the newsletter? That might be an explanation…

(I was apparently posting at the same time as one of the replies above, so my reply just made it look like I didn’t read the previous posts! Can’t have that.)

You don’t have to regsiter as a forum member to get the newsletter. And that has over 3000 subscribers, as you know.

I’ll say… A man after my own heart.

I think there are just natural born lurkers. I’m a bit that way myself. Shy? Insecure? Introverted? Who knows… but there are Loads of Lurkers on Lists of all Lots.

Maybe they are all Dale’s patients and he had told them to take part in this huge psychological experiment. And all these years we really believed this board was just about music and whistles.

Some of us are just new to whistling and perhaps a bit shy to jump right in. I have enjoyed tremendously reading and following posts. If there is an opening I would love to be involved but I am just a beginner whistler and don’t have tons to add yet. So there you have it.Fran

Hi Fran, welcome, take a seat. Want a beer? Hey, it’s really not necessary to know much about whistles. Do like most of us: just have fun talking nonsense.

Well, Fran, we welcome your voice

Erik

Also: could it be that they will eventually say something, but wanted to make sure that they got the nickname that they wanted for when it’s time?

Sounds like a great idea. Is what your saying that knowledge is not necessary to post? Well that’s good. Then I will jump right in. You all seem to have soooooooo much fun. I love whistling and this sight is wonderful. Fran

Heck, Fran, if we waited until we had something useful to say, no one would’ve topped 100 posts yet.

I hadn’t thought of it that way. Now that you point it out I think I have noticed that lately. Thanks for the info. I will now just jump in, without a net. I know you all will catch me if I fall. Gee at least I hope so. Fran

Ataway! 1 down, 301 to go!

maybe they register so they can send private messages.
