WARNING!!! WARNING!!!
There has been a defection in the prepoststructural forum. Apparently instigated by one jim_mc, we have lost member #1289. I will be sending PMās immediately. Everyone stay calm and resume lurking. This will pass.

Yes, I am #1289 and I have come out of the closet. YEAHā¦Fran
Lurker since last October, checking in with my first post.
No lurking for me! I just registered ![]()
Iāve been playing whistle for all of 3 days and look forward to learning all kinds of stuff here! This looks like a truly great forum!
Just look at 'em all coming out of the closet!
Not my first post, but close. Been playing whistle for all of a few weeks, though Iāve been playing recorder for 30+ years.
And I lurk unless I think I have something to add to the discussion - much as I love to pontificate, I donāt know enough about Irish music or whistles to do it convincingly yet.
Give me time!
What a great way to encourage first time posters. Iām shy and introverted and inexperienced myself and even I find something to say once in a while. If I can, anyone can! ![]()
Welcome to everyone who has broken their silence! You shall not be disappointed!

You donāt have to regsiter as a forum member to get the newsletter. And that has over 3000 subscribers, as you know.
Actually, it is remarkably difficult to know how many people actually get the newsletter. The list of email subscribers is now at 3344. However, of these, a few hundred or so are always going through the process of getting ābounced.ā About 2500 subscribers get the newsletter through yahoogroups.com. That service keeps up with the number of undelivered messages that go out and, after certain criteria are met including a certain number of bounced messages, the email address gets deleted. At the same time, I send out to about 1000 people who donāt use yahoogroups but prefer to get it directly from my email client. Anytime I send out a message, I usually get about 30-40 undelivered due to permanent fatal errors or whatever. So my guess would be 2800-3000 actually receive the newsletter. I also think about 17 people read it.
Seriously, I really think about 1200 read it. The reason I think this is that from time to time when I post a new web issue, I put a counter on it and itāll typically get 1000 or so hits. Then there are some who will only read the text-only version. But, I still think the cadre or regular readers is probably in the 1000-1500 range. Iām cool with it. I remember some years ago being ASTOUNDED that I had 300 subscribers.

Dale, come on! I read the news letter! I check for a new one before I check out the board. You spoiled us right before X-mas with like three in a row.
