Starting gate

Does anyone know the names of the tunes O’Flynn plays on this track (Planxty 2004). The first is played on the whistle and the second and third on the Rowsome rocket-launcher.

    • The Woman I Never Forgot
  • The Pullet
  • The Ladies’ Pantalettes

All can be found at www.thesession.org!

The first two will be easier to find under their correct names The Glen of Aherlow and The Boys of Portaferry.

I think the first is called “The woman I never forgot”.

The second is called “The Pullet” by Planxty on the After the Break album, but is called “The Boys of Portaferry” in O’Neill’s.

The third is “The Ladies Pantalettes”. (Leopardskin, I believe).

I agree with Peter that they could be also found with different names. Here is a discussion about these tunes on TheSession: http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display.php/5381/comments

Seeing as you are all so good to answer these queations…what are the two tunes o’flynn plays on the same album after corney is coming? (Track 11 on the CD)

I don’t have the Cd but I would guess The Chattering Magpie and Lord McDonalds

I agree with Peter that they could be also found with different names.

Well, Sean Ryan composed the first one as the Glen of Aherlow, we can assume that’s the correct title for it so.

Nope. I’m terrible with tune names, but its not Lord McDonald’s. I’m not sure Corney is Coming is correct either (per DMWC).

Track 11 - the album just calls it The Kildare Man’s Fancy - helpful, eh?

Good guess!
