Southern California Tionól 2007

The Southern California Tionól for 2007 will take place over the weekend of November 2, 3 & 4.

We are thrilled this year to welcome some of the worlds finest musicians and pipemakers including Seán McKiernan, Jimmy O’Brien-Moran, Benedict Koehler, David Quinn & Martin Preshaw.

The website has further details http://www.socalpipers.com/

Looking forward to seeing some of you there,

Pat.

I am SO there!!!

Jeez, America is the place to be for Tinóils! How many do we hve in Ireland? Two a year?

LOL! Come for the music, stay for the waffles

Pat.

…and the Pedros tacos, of course. I’m there !!!

It is another great line up.

Jimmy is a likeable character, but I think my kids are a little scared of him. He had joked around with them but I think they thought he was serious.

I would like Benedict to put out a solo CD, he is a really excellent piper.

I am intrigued by this six-armed, four-legged, multi-torsoed piper that the hardworking scientists in the SCUPC lab have come up with. No doubt a must see!:boggle:

which of the two hotels listed on the tionol web sight is
closest?
Cheapest?

Has any one set up a blog to look for room mates?
I don’t plan on getting much sleep but can’t stay awake for 48 hours straight

Jamie

I’m staying at the Best Western Capistrano Inn, but bob Wilson is sharing the room with me. Rooms are 99 a nite or there abouts.

How’s your set doing. Last time you were having dron issues.

Pat - Awesome line up as usual. Unfortunately California is a bit to far away for me (at this time! )…

Luckily the S/EUPC has their Tionol set for April 18-20 in Atlanta, GA !

I know - it was a shameless plug - couldn’t resist :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s what I used to think: until I attended my first SCUPC Tionol!

The Laguna Inn & Suites is the closest, cheapest and seediest, so needless to say, that’s where I’ll be staying

No E

I particularly enjoy the close proximity of the ten-lane-wide I-5 freeway and the railroad tracks, and the fact that they run on either side of the place. Then there’s the 73 toll road overpass, which looms almost overhead.

Gives it that je ne se qua that we all crave. Bring earplugs.

I second that. He plays a few tracks on both Pipers Gathering CDs (2004 and 2006) but COME ON, it’s just not enough!!!

I am vicariously excited for the likes of Misterpatrick and Tommykleen, who may comprise the Minnesota Contingent attending the event.

What a lineup … im - pre - ssive.

Maybe I could hide up with the landing gear on their flight out there – although I’d be worried about the sudden temperature change on the pipes!

Ah, yes the Laguna Inn. Always seemed like there was some kind of nefarious buisness going on, at all hours of the day and night - and that was the guests and patrons of the establishment - never mind the ones loitering accross the street at 4 am!

Larry, anyone in the SCUPC looking to share a room at the Laguna Inn? I am seriously considering coming, but I am also going to the East Coast Tylenol the weekend before, so I’m a little skint so I don’t think I have the funds to rent a car just for myself and room that I will only occupy for a couple of hours each night at best.

Also, I’d be interested in catching a ride from someone from the airport Friday afternoon - I promise to behave this time!

Cheers!
John.

John,

Check you PM’s

Any luck talking Sean into bringing the Touhey can opener? Or at least the chanter?

No, he won’t do it and I can’t say I blame him.

PD.

We are still thinking we might be able to make it…Eoghan is still waking me up several times a night & he is SO hyper I am constantly busy with him & totally exhausted, but we might come just to hang out. We’ll see when we get closer to then…
