The Southern California Uilleann Pipers Club now has a dedicated website.
It’s main purpose is to provide information to local pipers about upcoming events, help promote the club and also our annual tionol; this year to be held Nov. 20, 21 & 22 with special guests Kevin Rowsome and Benedict Koehler. Michael Hubbert and other luminaries will also be present.
Now there’s a good excuse to get warm, go “snowbird” a little early, and maybe stick around Pat’s place for Thanksgiving in Southern California!" I’d go just to see (and play) Michael Hubbert’s pipes and to get some good reeds from Koehler and in kind of a subtle way…bribe him to make you a chanter out of order of the waiting list.
pssssst…Pat, you can hit the “X” at the top right corner of your duplicate thread/post and get rid of it.
Yeah.. come one come all.. loads of room in my aeroplane hanger! It’s actually a shuttle hanger so it can take atelast 4,000 people and their sleeping bags! If drink is involved that number is drastically reduced to 3 or something. The acoustics are amazing… cathedral like. Plus… everyone that attends gets a free car!
HAHA! It should be a good tionol though… nice group of fanatics at any rate

Dale got rid of it for me thanks… kept the misspelled one though Do the snowbird thing Lorenzo… it’d be great to have some Fipplers attend
I think a little So. Cal. Geography is in order here–
Patrick lives in Woodland Hills; the Tionól is in San Juan Capistrano, a driving distance around 85 miles. So while the D’Arcys are gracious and generous hosts, you moochers might want to aim a little further south
Anybody got McKeagney’s e-mail handy
(There’s always my house, a scant 60 miles from SJC).
No worries, Pat and Gabbie, I’m flopping at the Best Western. I’m allergic to yard work, my parents can confirm that for you if you need any verification.
BTW Piper embryos take note: Benedict Koehler may be known for his reedmaking, but you have to hear him PLAY the pipes, too. He’s as good as anybody out there with a Claddagh records contract, no lie.
Excellent! I think we may hit double-digits for B sets! (I count 7 so far).
Looking forward to introducing you out-of-towners to the wonders of Señor Pedro’s Tacos (rico pozole sabato y domingo). Anyone bringing a B set gets a taco al pastor on me
Yeah, but it’s one-per-customer of the $0.99 variety
BTW- I live very close to LAX, so I’ll probably be coordinating some sort of pick-up/car pool arrangements down to SJC from L.A., so those of you who are flying into LAX, be sure to let me know.
Well guys…I’ll have my B chanter but Gaby and I will see to it that C sets rule. Hey…its his house…and we both will have our new C sets. Hmmm…the bees from the beehive will run off the B’s…I like it!
Hay!
Im here! My first post! I had such a hard time trying to get onto this fourm!
Anyway, Pat, Im glad to hear you are comming out!
The Tionol continues to grow every year, and I know we are going to have a great one this year. I hope a lot more of you that are thinking of attending, get too!
How about some tunes in A, eh? Major or minor, I don’t care. B pipes rule alright (I was a fool to sell my soul), but if the bees are gunna be buzzin a lot, I best bring my windsurfing gear and go play…um, “Out on the Ocean” (gee) . Do I need a wet suit in November?
