Irish? Song? What you quote is indeed a passage from that wonderful book, How Green was My Valley, but how does it come to be a song?
In the book the narrator, Huw, is standing up on the mountain reflecting on the mysteries of life, having just had the birds and the bees explained to him by Mr Gruffydd the minister, and comes out with this vision.
I’m aware that a film was made of the book starring (hilariously) Mickey Rooney. Are you telling me it was actually a musical?
BTW please let’s get one thing straight. Llewellyn was Welsh, and the novel is set in a Welsh mining valley, and all the principal characters are Welsh. Not Irish.
