Shanna Quay Music

Anyone remember Shanna Quay Music in Adare? I was searching through some photos of Ireland online to make some new desktops and found this photo of the shop.

I don’t know the shop but it is a very cool photo.

Those new to the forum in the last few years probably wouldn’t know about Shanna Quay since it no longer exists. Shanna Quay was an active online vendor of musical instruments including whistles, and often the subject of controversy here on the forum involving the owner because of his volatile personality.

My low post count doesn’t represent how long I’ve actually been part of C&F. I first joined about 10 years ago then dropped out for a time to get me mum moved here from Florida and lost my membership due to inactivity. So I had to start over with a new user name. Anyway, I remember dealing with Shanna Quay a couple times years ago, but has since gone out of business.

I’m sure Shanna Quay will revive both good and bad memories for some.

Steve didn’t like it if I pointed out you could buy the whistles he offered for half the price or less at other outlets. He always said I unfairly forgot he offered his with a ‘free’ pouch.

Ah, the memories

Fond memories, indeed. I was always impressed with his degree in psychology and his deep connexion to the music and the culture. I never minded his prices, though: It’s a tourist town, after all, and let people pay what they want.

I drove by that store 2 weeks ago myself but didn’t take a picture. Adare is a very pretty town.

Nyuk.

Shanna Quay = Shanachie / Seanchaí was clever.
