I’m sure others have seen this but figured I’d post for the community. Didn’t know which forum might be most appropriate but this seemed the safest.
I was surprised to see this since Shanna Quay seems like such an appropriate business for Adare. I’m a little bummed as I was going to stop by in September:
“In the last few weeks, Shanna Quay has been given notice to quit the premises it occupies in the Village Hall, Adare, County Limerick, Ireland. The reasons given - by the committee that manage the building - are so vague and apparently indiscriminate that we are contesting the decision. However it is unlikely, at this juncture, that we will occupy those premises after the end of August 2005. As yet, no alternative premises have been found.
Shanna Quay will continue to do business on the internet (where we started) until such time as suitable premises can be found.”
That’s a shame. A couple of years back when I was touring Ireland I visited Adare just to meet Steve Power and look round the shop. I spent a very pleasant couple of hours, and would have stayed for the evening session if I hadn’t previously booked a room in Tralee for the night - which was a shame, as Tralee was as dead as last week’s rice pudding.
Yes, I understand that Adare was an appropriate location for the Englishman’s tourist shop. ![]()
