Seattle sessions worth going to...

I’m planning on making a very brief trip ( like fly up in the afternoon and leave early the next morning) up to Seattle sometime the week of June 27th thru July 3rd, and I have a couple questions.

First off, is there a session I absolutely shouldn’t miss (that might allow another piper to join if they ask nicely)? And secondly, would any of you kind souls be willing to pick up said piper from the airport and offer a small piece of carpet to sleep on that night?

I’ll be driving back to Salt Lake the next day with a friend so we can split up the hours behind the wheel and will be up and out pretty early the following morning. I don’t have a particular day of the week in mind just yet, so any good sessions I’d may be interested.

I know it’s a long shot at best, but I figured I’d ask.

Thanks all!

Brian~

Well, now, I suppose I might be able to spare a bit o’ carpet for a stray piper, so long as he keeps is pipes pipered down. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure thing Bri, just give me a heads up. I can’t gaurantee that I can pick you up though. Give me a call, and we can work out the details.

Hey Ben - will do.

Do you know which ones are the best anyway? I mean if I can plan it around a really great one, I’ll shoot for that. I’m not exactly interested in the ones with the posted rules at the door though I think. :astonished:

I think sunday is the big session day in Seattle. The best one, from my point of view, would be at Molly McGuires, but it’s a semi-private session where the sensible thing to do is to play when you’re invited or you might end up playing by yourself and those guys would go drink some beer at the bar. It’s an advanced session. I think it starts at 4pm.

The sessions you might be interested into are at fados, starting at 4pm and then at the old pequiliar, starting at 7pm. They’re not advanced sessions but are pretty welcoming, from what I’ve heard.

My work schedule doesn’t let me get out to sessions, but here’s a link that may be useful: http://www.sessionsnw.com. It lists most (all?) of the sessions in the area. Others will have to speak to the quality and friendliness of the various sessions, though.

Hope that helps (at least a little).

Cheers,
John

The celtic bayou session is fun and welcoming but lots of inside jokes and references are traded so be prepared. Eskin has been to that one too. The food there is great though. I forget what night it is, thursday? And not too far from Tinker’s place. All the other sessions are west of the lake.
