If you get a chance, you might want to stop in and take a look at an acoustic music shop called Dusty Strings in Seattle on Fremont. I went in there today for the first time. Pretty impressive place. Lots of hammered and mountain dulcimers, harps, guitars, and a quite a few other folk insturments many of which I couldn’t identify.
And yes, they have whistles too. A bunch of Generation, Sweetones and Susatos. They’ve also got a couple of Copelands and half a dozen or so Glodie Overtons. One of the Overtons is a low Bb. The thing is a monster. I’m 6’4" with pretty big hands and I couldn’t finger it!
I think Dave and his sister Sarah play at a session on sunday afternoon, so it might be the one on your list. I don’t remember the name of the pub though. They’re session beasts and often keep on playing all night, even after the session is over. Also watch out for Sarah great step dancing, it’s just awesome.
Does Sarah play the fiddle at the Irish Emmigrant session on Wednesday nights as well? I remember a dark haired fiddler who was also a very good old-style dancer…
I’m not sure if she’s playing on wednesday, I guess she is, but yeah, she plays the fiddle too, so it might be her. You’re up for some good action if you can meet these guys
