Reeds and the Atlanta Tional

I’ll be brief. The Atlanta Tionol was a success. Had a great time.

I do want to say that the great Joseph Smith is making very good reeds from the high quality Florida cane. I reached into his reed pile drew out a likely prospect, poped it into my chanter and Ba Da Bing!..it played just great.

For you reed hungry folks…Joe Smith is the one to see.

All the best,
Pat Sky

I can personally vouch for JES’s reedmaking expertise.

like to try some of that florida cane, what do ya say doctor smith, have any cane tubes for sale?

I second that, Joseph Smith got my problems fixed on my D chanter.
Great reed maker… Ed (Rex to those that were in David’s class)

Thanks Pat. It was a great meeting you and that Jerry Jaccuzio (sp?) fella that smoked me outa house and home over the weekend. Good time in Hotlanta (actually, it was rather Coolanta).

Chanterdan, I currently do not have any Florida Cane that is ready for sale, and what I do have I need to apply to making reeds. Before too long that situation should improve and I’ll let you know when it does.

Thanks to Gary White (snoogie) and his wife Tricia for a job well done getting the SEUPC’s first tionol underway and running smoothly. A very nice time indeed, and a tremendous choice of venue for the Saturday evening concert which was very enjoyable. Great performances!

Thanks for the kind words everyone…I had a blast also.

One of the highlights for me was finishing off some Tulamore Dew with my friends Joseph and Geordie while making reeds and listening to Tommy Martin and Seamus Ennis..

It doesn’t get any better than that.

Odd, but I do not have any memory of that…
