New Recording

I spotted this on the Woodenflute list a few days ago. ( Posted by Hammy Hamilton) I think it’s available from Philippe Varlet in the US at this stage.

“Paul McGrattan has just released his second solo CD called Keel West. Personally I think this is his best work so far. It was mostly recorded at his cottage in Achill Island ( hence the name) and I think the flute sound is the best I’ve yet heard in terms of being true to what a flute actually sounds like…and not what sound engineers think it does!
He’s backed by Arty McGlynn and Colm Murphy among others and there’s a flute and fiddle duet with Paddy Glackin.
It’s available through Claddagh but no doubt threre’ll be other distributors on the US side shortly.
I’d classify it as a must have!”
I’ve a copy and I’d have to agree.

I’m waiting to hear from Philippe over at Celtic Grooves as to when he’ll get his batch of this CD. I love the air Easter Snow McGrattan plays on disc 2 of WFO and definitely need to own this latest release.

Turns out Rolling in the Ryegrass, which I learned from Music at Molloy’s, is McGrattan as well. Coincidence…I think not!
Hope to be listening to this CD ny the end of the week.
