Michael Clarkson & Harry Bradley´s new CD “The pleasures of hope: flute
music from Belfast and beyond” Great flute playing here from two fine
flute players. Good liner notes about the tunes in the foldout. Played on
Sam Murray D flutes and Olwell & Hamilton F flutes plus a Eb Cotter.
Harry Bradley & Michael Clarkson: HBMC 09 - EAN: 884502124880
Got mine from NPU www.pipers.ie

Well worth buying - some good tunes - accompaniment doesn´t get in the way Garry O´Braian on mandocello & guitar, Séamus O’Kane on bodhran do a good job
 & by the way for something different check this out:

yeah!!!

Great news, thanks for the heads up. I don’t see it listed on the NPU website yet, and it will probably be a month or two before Claddagh start selling it (as usual). I wonder if copies are available from the artistes directly or if there will be an official album launch

I got my CD in the NPU shop at Miltown but I see on the CD there is this address:

contact: pleasuresofhope@yahoo.com

Probably Michael & Harry themselves - give it a try

I found , also in the Halla an Phobal ( NPU’s shop in Miltown) the re issue of Fintan Vallely’s two cd’s , The Starry Lane to Monaghan ,( at last ! good man Fintan ! ) and his American recording of Traditional Irish Flute Music .

great to see The Starry Lane out at last on cd , and a serious bonus of the Trad Irish one , in it’s trendy packaging (didn’t know he made that one )

get a hold of them, they’ll do you a world of good .

and congratulations to Harry and Michael on their cd , and also to John Wynne , well done , and dammit , now i haven’t the money for the bus fare home ..

Aye, tried to get hold of Seamus Tansey´s second book “The Bardic Apostles of Innisfree continued …” in London but no one had it, or knew how to order it. The first one from 1999 is out of print it seems. I´ll get the new one from Amazon. Aye both Fintan & John Wynne are fine flute players.

Have just gotten my copy of the Harry and Michael CD and all I can say is …

!!!

(I’m speechless)

It’s an absolute blast. Brilliant playing, with a great sense of humor about it too (the liner notes alone are worth the price of admission). Its combination of zest, muscle, pyrotechnics and wit make it my new favorite flute CD, like, ever.

Not that I’m biased by the dueling Murrays or anything, but … yeah, this is the stuff. It reminds me why I love this music, and this instrument.

Ossian USA now has the “Pleasures of Hope” available on their website http://www.ossianusa.com/. I just ordered it along with the new CDs by Liam Kelly (“Sweetwood”) and John Wynne (Like the Wind"). Can’t wait. I’m really delighted the Michael’s put out a new disc. He really deserves ITM sainthood for his monumentally generous website! http://irishflute.podbean.com/

Get Steph geremia’s CD as well. It’s really marvelous! Have a look:

Cheers, Moritz

Just ordered the Bradley-Clarkson CD and the Geremia CD. Can’t wait!

Just received the Clarkson-Bradley CD yesterday and have been playing it constantly. It’s driving my wife nuts  Absolutely love it! Great balance of tune types (reels, jigs, polkas, march, hornpipe) and different keyed flutes, majority being on Murray Ds. Love the track Ryan’s-Glory reels. Trying to learn Ryan’s. Great CD and worth the purchase.

Another 3 positive opinions.
