Great Bit of Fluting.

Heard the best bit of playing in a long while on a CD today. It was Tom Dorley from Danu on the band’s new CD. Playing in duet with fiddle on a march from John Doherty’s playing. Great boyancy in it and loads of different tones. The album is top of that genre, which generally isn’t really the sort of thing I get exited about, but I was very glad to hear that bit of playing. The tone and breath control reminded me of Dessie Wilkinson. Lovely shimmery vibrato and punctuation, and technically controlled without being sterile.

Check it out.

Cheers,

Harry.

ps. I’m not getting a cut from sales.

Thanks Harry, I hadn’t even realized they had released a new album. Just started listening to the last one again this past week.

Does Muireann have any good tracks on it???

Wow; I couldn’t think of a higher recommendation. I’ve never bought anything of theirs, but probably will now.

i saw Danú not long ago and Tom Doorley sounded great to me, though certainly i’ll never have Harry’s erudition in these matters. i haven’t heard anything from them since the “Up in the Air” cd, but i’ll put the new one on my list, thank you Mr Bradley for the tip.

i managed to get the last copy of Muireann’s “Morning Star” from Dingle record shop, and Mazz dropped in a little note saying to expect a new cd from Muireann in “about 6 weeks”.

Swwwweeeeeeet

Keeeeewwwwwl.
Thanks for taking the time to tell the forum, Harry!
