Just back from the “Towersey Festival” which is run by a kind of folk Mafia who have £ signs in their eyes,I think you know what I mean.
I met,for the first time, one of the greatest whistle makers there, his name Phil Bleazey and what a diamond geazer (nice man).
I spent some time discussing whistles with him and he loaned me one of his Applewood high Ds to Pro-file.
These are some of the FINEST whistles I have every played, they are just fabulous, well balanced, sweet toned, beautifully crafted a work of art actually.Maybe the best high D on the market by a long way.Phil is not a player as such but his instuments have the sound most makers can only dream of.They are the sort of whistle that can be played quietly without upseting the nieghbours as well,I cannot praise them enough.I found the lower keys a little low in volume for my taste but the mezzo’s and soprano’s where astounding. He also makes them in a variety of woods all give different colours in their tones ,no two are the same,I just wanted them all.
So,you know where the review will be.
And,as I said before “WHAT A NICE MAN”
If you have not already checked his whistles,I suggest that you take the time and go to www.bleazey.co.uk
Have fun.
Phil.
Phil makes a wonderful whistle; I agree that they’re among the best. I would take issue with your remark that the high-D’s can be played quietly, though. I’ve owned two, and both were rather loud, although they don’t have the shrillness that’s often characteristic of loud whistles.
Definately not shrill but not as loud as some.
By the way did I mention that they are very comfortable in the mouth, they have an almost organic feel to them,no sharp edges, nicely rounded mouthpiece.
Phil.
Is that the same whistle that Mr. Bleazey advertises on his website? Because the one in your video looks a great deal different than these:

By the way, Phil, the “Products” link on your site comes up empty in Firefox. The other links, including those with Flash movies, work fine.
So I looked at your HTML and compared “Products” with “Info” (the latter does work) and I think I found the problem: There’s a bad link in the EMBED tag. The bit which currently reads EMBED src=“products.swf” should in fact read EMBED src=“swf/products.swf” – note the extra “/swf”
Hope this helps!
“You lucky lucky bastard”( qt.Monty Python )
All those lovely whistles,mmmmmmmmmmm.
Congratulations,I have not put a clip up yet,I’m still recovering from the John McSherry hangover from last night.
Clues.
Phil.
ps.Craig,I’ll forward your comments to the design team, thanks.
Those are the only ones Phil B. makes, although he also makes them in boxwood, yew, and possibly another wood or two upon request.
Mopani is another regular wood he uses. I would post my set of Bleazey’s: High D, C Bb, A and Low G and D but my photo site just closed down. ![]()
BTW, the Low D is to die for Phil. Smooth and buttery sound.
OK, and how do I view the WMV files on my G5 IMAC???

For a metal whistle my vote would be a Sindt. But these Wooden Bleazey’s sure are tempting.
I spoke to John last week and he is sending me a whistle to PRO_FILE.Can’t wait.
Phil.
