Wow, I though EVERYONE has seen my raving reviews of this whistle.
I call it my Swooner since Renee REALLY likes it when I play it.
I let a Bay Area person that is doing a CD play it at the latest C&F party and he told me it was smooth as butter. I think he got Phil’s last stock one for 2004.
It is quiter than a flute but has a very flute like quality to the sound, but very smooth. I don’t have any clips and will be away from home for a bit over a week so no go there.
The wood I have is mopani. Smooth with light and deep brown chocolate colored. The walls are pretty thick too, so well protected from cracking. It feels like it is thick walled too, it is NOT a lightweight, but it is managable for me.
If you do a search on Bleazey hear and on GC you will find other comments I have made over the last several months since getting it. I also have a High D and Low G. On order are and A and Bb. Wish he made a Low F. Did I say I like Phil’s whistles?
I knew it was only a matter of time before we heard from you Steven
I think it would be great if someone did put up a sound clip. Wouldn’t it be cool if someone organized a library of playing songs on different whistles.
Thanks David. I have that one posted. It is organized by reels, jigs and so on, which is great. I suppose it could be helpful for people to find also organized in an additional way to help people find whistle makers, keys, . . . oh, I know I’m making this more complicated than it has to be
I wonder if Steven’s ill or something, it took a whole 2.25 hours to respond to a query that was clearly labelled Bleazey low D. Maybe he assumed (as I would have) that TommyK meant “anyone besides Norcal who has a Bleazey low D.”
I have a friend that owns a Bleazy, blackwood low D. He also has a Bleazy, Rudall, blackwood flute. I only had a few minutes to play the low D. It wouldn’t be fair to comment since I didn’t have much time to really play it. Ok, I just had a few thoughts…
Easy to blow, definatly a small hand model (the holes are small and close together.
The sound was mellow and played easy in both octaves.
Honestly, I loved the sound of the flute and ordered one within a week.
If you like a rich, complex sound buy a flute
I once heard this expression…“The best low D is a flute”
