Does anyone have experience or comments about the madfortrad.com Tin Whistle Tutorial? I’m thinking of ordering the CD and would like to hear your comments. Thanks in advance.

I have it and think it’s great.

The teacher is very skilled. The CD is well put together and has some good tunes on it. The videos are all great quality. I really have nothing bad to say about it.

There is one thing I would change about it though. When the instructor demonstrates the song, he does it at a certain tempo.
I would prefer he demo the song twice; once at a slow “learning” speed and then once at performance speed. That way, I would know what tempo the song is supposed to be played at. He sort of plays at a tempo between slow and fast.

Just so you know, the mad4trad CD-ROM will happily run on just about any computer.

The CD basically contains a bunch of web pages and a bunch of videos. The videos are in a standard MPEG format, which will play just fine on MacOS or Windows or Linux or BeOS or whatever. No special software needs to be installed. I was very pleased with this approach.

If your CD-ROM drive is too slow, you can also just copy the CD to your hard drive and run it from there. I did this in Windows because the lag time for IE and the Windows Media Player was too distracting.

The CD is great!!! :astonished: It probably did more for my abilities than any of the other learning aids I’ve purchased. Hearing and seeing Brian from Flook’s phasing and ornamentation really took my playing up two or three notches. I’m not fortunate to be able to whistle in a session or play trad with anyone else, so this was like a private tutor.
