Livestream Irish Trad Music

Hi folks,
any suggestions for online (i.e. livestream) Irish traditional music? Right now I’m always listeing to LiveIreland.com wich gets a bit boring over the time. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

www.clarefm.ie has very good trad programmes every working day 7-9 o clock local time

www.rte.ie has several trad programmes as has www.tg4.ie although you will have to get some of these through their archives.

Here’s one…even gives you a number of choices as to the type of music you’d like to hear.

Hope you enjoy,

Oh, geez, I just realized I have posted something that may be misconstrued as being pleasont or grateful or something on this board. Sorry, Bill, I realize now how inappropriate that was.

Thanks
I was looking for something like this and enjoy

Carel

looks good, but it seems in the small print that they aren’t MAc compatibe

Same problems for the Linux world :sniffle: … but isn’t there also fre Windows emulation available for Mac?

Windoze emulation?? Are you kidding? Jeez!

Hey .. come on. Emulated windoze runs more stable than this real M$ stuff they sell for money. And you can’t play Tuxracer all day long … so some windoze-based games are fun from time to time.

But getting back to the topic: thanks for the links guys! I will try to find my favourite among them.

Thies,
another good (stream) programme:

goto “archieves” (left side) and then chooze “A Thousand Welcomes”
Enjoy,
Hans

Hans, thanks for that link! Once again something for Windoze MediaPlayer, but really nice music. Just lightening up my working mood on this grey winters day in the Finnish woods.
Tickety-boo, Thies

I tried that website above, and could not get anything to play.

Anyway I recommend Rhapsody. It is $10 per month and you can download it on all of your computers, but you can only log onto the service at one at a time.

With Rhapsody, you can create your own radio stations. I created an Irish music one by selecting 10 of my favorite artists. Rhapsody adds similar artists and creates a radio station which plays continuosly at my desk while I am at work.

You can also listen to individual tracks and albums from the majority of artists out there today. Some have not signed agreements with Rhapsody so their music is available only on the radio stations, but you can’t pull down the individual songs. The best thing is that you can create your own giant playlists and they are saved on the Rhapsody server, not yours.

It only costs extra if you want to burn the music to a CD, in which case Rhapsody charges 79 cents per song.

I have discovered a lot of cool artists out there by listening to Rhapsody such as Bun Ber E, Flogging Molly, etc. I never would have heard of them otherwise.

Most of these stations “say” they are trad music, but they are all modern groups - just the latest stuff the record labels are flogging. Not an Ennis or Clancy track amongst them all. I tried one of the above links with several stations, the one that specified it was all traditional, and what did I get but the strains of “Celtic” music on New Age guitar. Perhaps I have a misunderstanding of what “traditional” means.
