Trad Internet Radio.

I’ve searched around the internet and have found a few “Irish” stations but mostly contemporary stuff. Does anyone know of any good Trad streaming broadcasts that you can listen to through Media Player or the like? Does such a thing exist? It sure would make my days at the office more enjoyable.

Kathleen Biggins does a great traditional music show every Saturday morning on WFUV radio in New York. It airs live from 9:00 am to noon Eastern time in the US, and can be heard live on the station’s stream from http://wfuv.org . However, they also archive past shows so you can stream them any time if you can’t listen live.

Also, Brian O’Donovan on WGBH radio in Boston does a great trad music program on Saturdays from noon until 3:00 pm Eastern US time, which you can listen to live on http://wgbh.org . Each show is then made available for streaming from the site for one week, until the next live show airs.

http://liveireland.com/ has a decent trad stream in addition to their contemporary one.

A Celtic Twilight is a great show on Saturdays in the Boston area:

Thanks for all the suggestions, so far the Clare FM Trad Music Archive has been most to my liking.

I agree about Clare FM. Awesome stuff.

Aaaaand some good Scottish shows just to keep things interesting…

As some of these shows are from Irish/Scottish Gaelic stations, the key vocab. to look out for is:

Éist leis an gclár (Irish, “Listen to the show”)

and

Èist a-rithist (Sc. Gaelic, “Listen again”).

Enjoy!
