Does anyone have the sheet music or a MIDI file for Johnny Jump-Up? I can only find the chorus on the net.
If you’re thinking of the song about strong cider recorded by Christy Moore, the tune is better known under another name. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s an air that has been used for many songs, often comical ones. I can only think of “Cod Liver Oil” and “Nuke Power” at the moment, but maybe it’ll come to me. If anyone else can supply a more common title, please do. Meanwhile here’s the abc and a link to sheet music.

Good work Steve, exactly the ones I was thinking of, Christy Moore sang it on RTE tv last week. A version of Dr De Jongh’s Cod liver oil is in Colm O Lochlainn’s More Irish Street ballads, nr 30. He didn’t know the name of the tune either although he mentions ‘The grave of Wolfe Tone’ being sung to it sometimes.

Thorton, I’m at school right now, but when I get home I might be able to help you. Email me so I remember. ![]()

there’s a realaudio clip. It’s not the traditional version of the song, but hey, it’s fun! Actually, you can probably find a better sounding mp3 on Morpheus (go to http://www.musiccity.com don’t worry, the band has never released that song on a disc, there’s no copyright laws to worry about, it’s from a live recording. Look for a version marked “dockstreet” the older version isn’t as good as the newer one they played at the dockstreet theater last year. there’s a bit of an intro on it, so you might not recognize the lyrics at first, but other than the beginning, not much was changed.)

I knew there were other JLC fans on here…
but as for the song, I’ve seen tons of versions of it on Audio Galaxy by various (and usually good) artists.
