Joe Mooney's 2010

Hi,

Anyone of you chiffers going? Maybe I might meet one of you…

Philip

I’ll be in Tobercurry the week before. Not enough vacation days left for Drumshanbo though. :frowning:

Have fun there!

I will be at Tubbercurry as well. Will stay for another week and will maybe have a short visit to Drumshanbo.
David

I’ll be at both!!

I’ll be at Drumshanbo. Last year, I realised with a sort of shock that, at the end of 5 full days of Drumshanbo, I had, in any 24 hour period:

  • Slept a maximum of 3 hours
  • Drunk a minimum of 15 pints
  • Played a minimum (actually played, mind, after taking breaks into account) of 11 hours of music

My fingernails still haven’t fully recovered. (They went ridged, stripey and wiggly.)

See you there!

:pint:

You can do the same in Tobercurry. We played at T. Brennan’s from 2 o’clock midday till 1 in the night and had a great time. No breaks, though.

(you want to come to tobercurry you want to come to tobercurry you want to come to tobercurry you want to come to tobercurry you want to come to tobercurry)

Trip,

Looks great…maybe one of these days I’ll make it to Ireland.

John Wynne is my hero, but you have Harry Bradley there as well :boggle: mind blowing.

I see that Mairead Hurley will be there teaching concertina. Oddly enough, she’s been playing locally and I’ve had a chance to play with her in a session in San Francisco and in a Ceili band in Berkeley. A lovely lady, great concertina player, and an astronomer to boot.

Guess if one can’t make it to Ireland, a little bit of Ireland can come to you.

Cheers,

jason

[Minus the ‘subliminal’ bit]

1 O’clock??!?!! Lightweight! What did you do for the rest of the time?

That’s great! If you see a guy with long hair like mine, don’t be shy - say hi!

Yeah, similarly if you see a woollly looking guy with a small fiddle and a liking for tea.

If Ben’s playing fiddle, you’ll know him by his left leg.

And if Jem ever gets there, you’ll know him because you’ll hear him in the next town. (For clarity, I mean that as a BIG compliment.)

I WISH I REALLY THOUGHT HE MEANT MY FLUTING. :tomato:

I’m hurt now. I DID mean your fluting. But, if you’re going to be like that …

[sniff]

Jem,
when I can hear your flute here in Brooklyn I shall be impressed!
Arbo

Well, if I ever grow wings (or can afford to flit across the pond by other means) you durn well should be impressed!

'Sides, I feel the earth move from here when you warm up, Arbo (or is that buzzing vibration just another earthquake?)

Seriously, Ben told me after last time we were at a sesh together that he thought I was really loud, but he was sitting right on top of me to my left… I don’t sound all that loud to myself, even on good embouchure days and in a room alone, let alone trying to compete in a noisy sesh. Mind, I’ve spent enough time over the years trying not to drown out his reticent fiddle playing. :smiling_imp: :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s my natural shyness.

Maybe. And doubtless the amount of energy diverted into driving that leg…
