Off to have tunes with Kevin Henry!!!!

 I fly out tonight. I’m really excited. This will be my first chance to sit down in the same room with a real old styled player. It’s gonna be awesome. Not to mention playing some tunes with my Montreal buddies.

Any other of you flute players attending East Durham?

Enjoy! Kevin is a great flute player and a lovely person.

Have fun!

All I can say is JAYSUS! The really don’t make em like that any more. I’ve never met a nicer, more entertaining person in my entire life. Kevin is everything the tradition was and should be about. I’m extremely happy that I was able to make it out there and the memories will be with me the rest of my life.

So wher wuz ya then…(I was sitting right behind Kevin Monday night at Furlong’s…at least I think it was Monday..things are a little fuzzy right now)

Was all good listening, the guy is incredible and just keeps on goin’

I attended a few of Kevin’s classes myself. I’m with you, Jack. I loved his style of playing (had never heard it so close-up before, and so clear!) and loved listening to him speak about the stories and the tradition.

Lovely man indeed! Great experience for me. Gives me ideas about a few projects

Jack, was your final car ride over there exciting?

Wouldn’t YOU like to know :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, Dave asked me to ask you.

Just look at you, your emoticon is green with envy!

I liked when Kevin recited the poem about the leather britches and the box player went into the tune “Leather Breeches” right after. Fun times …

I was in the session at McGraths on Friday(at least I think it was Friday!) when he was there. It was cool, there’s so much life in his playing. Also heard him in a few of the concerts. Quite cool, as I said before.

That Kevin Henry is so hot right now. I really enjoyed getting to spend some time with his sister as well, Verona, a lovely woman. His friend Albery Neary from Chicago came for the week as well, and he has some great tunes. They’re all such great musicians, with such a wildness and flair for the music combined with their obvious skill and set of tunes.
