I’ve got to clean house a bit to pay off a few things on order, and I need to sell one of my fiddles. I purchased it from Xuantro Wang, who is one of the best luthiers in China right now. His daughter came to the music store I work at with a couple of violins, and out of the lot I picked the best one and kept it for myself. I just had it professionally set up not too long ago, I had a new sound post installed, had a new bridge made for it, and also had the finger board planed a little bit as they said it would improve the balance. The fiddle is really powerful, and since being set up, is a very very balanced instrument. I find it’s tone to be a bit on the brighter side, with quite a bit of projection. I have D’Addario fiddle strings on it, but with a silk or nylon core string, you’d get a more mellow sound. I prefer steel core strings as I mainly play Cajun fiddle, and they lend themselves well to that sound.
With the fiddle I will throw in a nice professional case, as well as a J. Lasalle LB 33 bow, or if you wanted I have a similar bow in brazilwood. This instrument would retail for $1,500 without the case or bow, i’d like to get $650(was 900 before, see below for explanation) for it. I really want to make sure it goes to a good home, it’s a fantastic instrument. I’m sort of in an financial bind at the moment(who isn’t?), so, i’ve decided to let my fiddle go for $650 for quick sale. This fiddle is a steal at that price, it’s a fantastic instrument that has gotten many compliments when i’ve taken it out on gigs.
