FS:a gaggle of Overton Whistles

Hello, sorry about my first post being a for sale ad. I use to visit and post quite a bit on the chif and fipple forum a number of years ago. From about 98 to 2001. I use to be very passionate about playing and reading up on all the whistle information. Unfortunately the music scene here in Tampa, FL. is less than favorable for Irish Traditional music and finding other musicians in the genre are quite hard to come by locally. I ended up playing guitar more and eventually lost touch with what was happening here.

I’m selling a nice “set” of Overtons.
These were made in 1999 and rarely used. I ordered these directly from Colin thinking I would use them far more than I do. I have thought about selling them in the past, but always felt bad about it because I didn’t want hurt Colin’s feelings by having him think that I didn’t like them. There is nothing wrong with them they are in excellent condition and play as well as the day I received them.

This is the list of what’s being sold

This is his current price list for the whistles I currently own, with his standard price and I’m assuming and the other is the price with Value Added Tax.

Soprano D Current price EURO 125 EURO 145

Mezzo Soprano C (small bore) Current price EURO 125 EURO 145
This diameter was among the first he made in the small bore. As I recall from email correspondence; I was told had taken a rubbing from James McNally C of the same bore to get the hole placement.

Mezzo Soprano C (big bore) Current Price EURO 142 EURO 158
At the time he made this it was marked “Last” inside. At that time he had considered not making the C’s with this diameter of pipe anymore. It has a very strong low end and the second octave has a different fingering then what you are familiar with I will include the fingering with the whistle.

Mezzo Soprano B flat Current Price EURO 142 EURO 158

Mezzo Soprano A Current Price EURO 142 EURO 158

Alto G Current Price EURO 158 EURO 183,28

Alto F Alto F EURO 158 EURO 183,28

I have a Low D but I’m keeping it, as it is what got me interested in playing whistle to begin with

I not sure what they normally go for used but based on the current new prices from the Overton site and the other dealer sites that are selling them new.
I’m thinking around 80 dollars US each and 5 dollars shipping is fair. However if you feel this is too steep email and we can haggle over price. 50 dollars 2 chickens and a set of knives or something?

I will include copies of all correspondence that I had with Colin in regards to my purchase and copies of the original receipt. Also the original certificates of authenticity will be mailed with the whistles. I will be happy to email you pictures of the whistle you are interested in buying or/and the whole set together.

Somebody got that small bore C before I could but I am trying to save money and shouldn’t be buying whistles that cost more than $20 before I get paid again. Matt knows why (if he has read a post on the Green fourm which I posted a few minutes ago).

Hey Dave,

I’m new to whistlin’, but I live in Clearwater and work in Tampa.

Just in case you still have a whistle to your name and wouldn’t mind shown me the ropes.

Either way thanks,
George

George, There’s some good suggestions on learning in a recent post- it’s just a few posts away from this one, called ‘Another tyro strikes out’–
mike

That was waaay too quick, and it’s a shame you’re getting out, Dave. I live in St. Pete.

I still have the Low D and a bunch of generations that I got a long time ago. But not into whisteling like I was.
what exactly are you looking to know?
