Things other than Overton Low D for sale

UPDATED LIST BELOW

Here are the other things from my instrument case that I’m not using, if anyone is interested in having them:

–Water Weasel Low A whistle (with the coveted plumbing code on the pipe!) – very nice-sounding whistle, as one would expect of Glenn’s stuff – bought for $76 (+shipping), will sell for $65.

–Dixon 3-piece polymer Irish flute (hand-turned, conical-bore instrument, excellent first flute), I was going to keep this for traveling, etc., so I could leave my blackwood flute at home, but I find I just bring my blackwood everywhere! Paid $180. Will sell for $160.

–8-keyed polymer Eb flute, based on a Boosey pattern. From India; needs some tweaking to bring it perfectly in tune, but a surprisingly good instrument for the money once I tweaked a little (new cork, adjusted position, pull footjoint out a little). Comes with case. I paid $80, will sell for $65.

–Hoover brass D whistle (I think it’s a standard bore, but I’m not sure; got it from the Whistle Shop), fairly quiet and sweet, pure sound (I like more chiff and volume, personally) – $45

–Professional bansuri in E (western-style key; a bansuri player would call it an “A” bansuri, I think) by Jeff Whittier, who makes flutes for the great Hari Prasad Chaurasia: very nice bamboo flute, good size to learn finger-spread and technique for Irish D flute - $65

–Low D “Irish” Bamboo flute by Erik the Flutemaker. Very large finger stretch and toneholes, but a good instrument (not for those with small hands!). Paid $35, I think. Will sell for $20, comes with cloth bag.

–ADDED: five-hole walnut/mahogany native american flute in F# minor, by Blue Star Spirit. Lovely to look at and to hear. $115

–ADDED: Six hole native american flute, very quiet player, unknown light-colored wood: $50.

Buyer to pay shipping, but I’ll probably charge a little less than the real shipping cost (usually isn’t very high for these instruments, anyway). Contact me via PM if you have any questions, wish to buy or want to make a different offer or trade.

(Yes, it’s a lot of instruments, but you should see what I’m keeping! My wife wishes I’d sell more of the things. . .)

Aaron, please check your PMs.

John

Yeah, me first.

I mean me two.

Oh you know what I mean!

Hi Aaron,

Sent you a PM.

Thanks,
Kaolin

I am amazed. I posted one of the finest whistles in the world, an Overton Low D, on this whistle[/i] board to almost no response (just one day left on the Ebay listing!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2545703964&category=308

for anyone interested).

Then I post all this strange ethnic stuff, and my PM inbox floweth over.

Are we suffering whistle fatigue, or something? Dvoyanka are suddenly desirable whereas an Overton languishes? There’s a severe shortage of NA flutes, but an oversupply of low whistles?

Golly. Weird.

–Aaron

Post most any other Overton whistle and I would be knocking on your door in a heartbeat. Already have the D and I suspect they ARE fairly common since they were or close to one of the first lows out there. No?

Anyway, any High D’s out there for sale?

I’ve edited the list at the top of the page to indicate what’s still available after a couple of sales to board members. Send me a PM if you’re interested in any of the above items.

(Because I got quite a few queries on the native American flutes, I added two wooden flutes to the list, as I have, oh, about 6 that I’m keeping. . .)
