Whistles/flutes FOR SALE!

Hullo chiffers,

I really need to thin down my whistle collection - in particular the tableful of low Ds I have accumulated, but also a few other items. To make room for new purchases, of course. Therefore I offer the following whistles/flutes for sale. A couple of items have waiting lists if you want to get them from the maker, one is a collector’s item (!), but prices are generally set low for all items.

  • Burke aluminum-EZ low D (tunable). $100. The easy-reach version of his aluminum-pro low D. A very nice whistle. Easy finger reach, low air requirements, moderate volume. The 6th finger hole can be turned to an offset position if desired.
  • Kerry low D. $35
  • Cook low D (non-tunable). $50. Easy reach, quiet, very low air requirements. A collector's item!
  • Howard low D (black). $55. Big holes, beautiful "haunting" sound.
  • Chieftan low D (non-tunable). $55
  • Chieftan low G (non-tunable). $55
  • Chieftan high D (non-tunable). $45
  • Overton anodized (red) high D (non-tunable). $75. Loud, plays beautifully. The red coloring is missing on a tiny area underneath the fipple: Not much, and not something that can be seen unless you look for it.
  • Sunreed bamboo flute (prof. model) AND Moore plastic flute (tunable). $40. The Sunreed is a nice flute with offset 3rd and 6th finger holes. The Moore flute is not particular nice, which is why I am throwing it in with another item, rather than selling it separately.

All prices are excluding shipping from Denmark, which the buyer will pay. That means among other things that you as the buyer get to choose whether you want insured/registered delivery, or just plain-vanilla-no-guarantees shipment. For payment, I can accept personal cheques or money orders. No credit cards, I’m afraid. If interested, email me at jho@post.dk . Do not, I repeat, do not reply to the board! First-come-first-served.

Cheers,
Jens Hoppe

Which Low Whistles did you decide to keep for your own use and not sell, and could you share with us why you made your “keep” selection ? Thanks.

Hi Bob,

I am keeping two low Ds: A Dixon, mainly for when I am feeling really lazy, and just want an easy, easy (and quiet) whistle. It has a few tuning problems, but nothing too serious. The other low D is my “workhorse”, a tunable Kerry Pro low D. I also have one in F, and I just love everything about them. Highly recommended.

In addition I am keeping a Chieftan bass Bb, just for the fun of it!

Cheers,
Jens

Just a quick update. The following items are, as David Migoya would put it, “under purchase agreement”:

  • Burke low D
  • Howard low D
  • Cook low D
  • Chieftan low G
  • Overton high D
  • The two flutes

The rest is still available.

Cheers,
Jens
