Hey,
I’m working on a lament called Eanach Dhuin. Does anyone out there know how to pronounce it?
Thanks and best,
Joe

The song commemorates a boating disaster in Anaghdown Co Galway. In Raftery’s poem it goes:
If my health is spared I’ll be long relating
Of that boat that sailed out of Anach Cuain.
And the keening after of mother and father
And child by the harbour, the mournful croon!
In English the name often comes as Anacuin, which gives you a hint at it’s pronunciation. There’s a whole rake of jigs based on the air, often with names that are a play on things sinking and boat related: ‘The Hole in the boat’ ‘The sheep in the Boat’, ‘The Killaloe Boat’ etc
