Anyone have any experience/knowledge re this new whistle? I saw it in the Lark in the Morning catalogue; very pricey ($199).
There was also a Josef Bras (?) brass whistle. I think I recall a Dale review at some point on this whistle.

Pay very careful attention to the wording of the description on the LIM site. Especially the bits about “old-fashioned tone” and not sounding like “a six-hole recorder”. In other words, this whistle is designed to be different - the tone is nothing like the pure sound of a Burke or Copeland or any other modern fancy-pants whistle.
Board member (and former big-time WhOA sufferer, now cured) Azalin bought one and hated it. In fact he thought there was something wrong with it and brought it around for a second opinion. To me, it sounded like the whistle played on an old Michael Coleman recording. After a few minutes’ playing, I was almost starting to like it. It’s not a matter of chiff - I think the tone was just loaded with harmonics.
But Azalin didn’t go for the idea of an old-fashioned sound and sent it back for a refund.
JessieK reported that she tried one at LIM and liked it - she didn’t notice the old-fashioned tone. But the one Azalin had was very true to the description.
Also, it seemed to clog quickly. It is the nicest-looking brass whistle I’ve seen. Elegant, in fact, which is not a word I’d use about a Burke or Copeland.
No whistle-to my knowledge- was ever played on a Michael Coleman, flutes, yes, by Michael Walsh and Tom Morrison. Whistles, no. Just for the record. We get your drift though.
Some years ago I saw Davy Spillane and Paddy Keenan play. for the fun of it, a few of Brian’s instruments and they didn’t seem to think (and certainly didn’t sound like) there was anything wrong. Probably a different type though.
I have a Shanachie compilation called “The Legacy of Michael Coleman” on which there is a track called “McDonald Medley”, consisting of “Lord McDonald” followed by the tune known as “Jim Coleman’s”. If that’s not a whistle playing along with the fiddle, I’ll gladly eat my hat, the cassette, or your pipes for you. 
PS Hmm. I don’t really want to eat any of the above items. I’ll allow an outside chance that it’s a piccolo - but listening really closely, it sounds more like a whistle to me. A Howard soprano D, in fact!
