Best Name for a Band

Karate Kid?
Mr. Miyagi’s Kilt?
Grasshopper’s Lament?

Knew a band in high school called Mister F*** Head
Played bass briefly for a band named Francis
There was another called Carbonite
My cuz’s ska band is called Insatiable.
There’s a local band here called The Adventures of Sh*t Weasle and Mister Gray (5 points for the person who knows the refference).
My first band, who I still occasionally sit in with, is called Mindsprain
Have a folk/irish-scottish-welsh/whatever/whatever-whatever group we call Through Thick and Thistle

There’s a punk (might be Ska actually) band called Sweep The Leg Johnny

I once saw a twin bill with Baby Opaque and the Butthole Surfers.

Buck Naked and the Fleshtones (long-gone? Vancouver band)

Twisted Shiksa (University of Victoria klezmorim)

Les Lost and the Navigators (my jazz / r&b band)

BTW, Hayseed Dixies also do a version of Stairway to Heaven that is… sublime.

If you remember the 60s (and I doubt you do), how about this one:

? and the Mysterians

I understand The Squirrel Nut Zippers are getting back together.
And what ever happend to The String Cheese Incident?

still around

Hayseed Dixie… I hadn’t thought of them for a while. They really are good at what they do. Thanks for reminding me of them.

Let us not forget The The http://www.rhapsodylive.com/rhapsody/lp-015-af032/kw/the%20the

i’ve always been partial to the name that snake gave our ragtag little
group out in idaho: “the band.”

well, actually, norman and i never really cared much for that name. it’s
just that snake was bigger than both of us – even when i stood on
norman’s shoulders – and we thought it best to just smile weakly and go
along with the snake on most of his ideas.

i learned from all of this that self-preservation is a strong instinct – even
more so than belonging to a group with a cool name.

I forgot to mention that here in Portland, OR, myself and some of the musicians I play with have been known to play ceilis under the name “The Damned Ceili Band.”

It may already be taken, but Ive always been partial to :

“The D@stardly B@stards”

hmm…might not be as effective if there’ s ladies in the band.

Why not, “The Bastardly Dastards” then? :boggle:

I got in here late; I had civil engineering friends in college so we named our little garge band “Activated Sludge”. Any working CEs out there want to give a short talk on it?

There were plans to but after their last album (Bedlam Ballroom) I’m not expecting much. Since Maxwell left the band the music took a step backwards and lost it’s “umph” that made it so wonderful in the first place. :frowning:

the sons of onan

Oh, I get it! That’s backwards for “the snos of nano”. Brilliant!

:stuck_out_tongue:

“Friendly Proposition”

“Digital Camera”

“Crackers”

All plausible names for a band, I think.

Best wishes,
Jerry
