The BBC have been nice to us
The vids are in flash format it looks like, so there is a chance that non UK residents can view them.

Nope for here either.
And %%$##@ TIme Warner wonât allow streaming video from TG4 either
would have been nice! but not working here either, says ânot available in your areaâ.

I guess weâll have to wait until some caring soul lifts them and puts them up on YouTube, the UP ones, at least.

No dice.
Which is really lame when we are being prohibited from viewing/listening to it based solely on geographic location. Say what you want about piracy, especially when somebody pirates something for nefarious reasons and to try and make a profit off it. But it sure would be nice to be able to enjoy some of the overseas UK and Ireland online content without worrying about overly strict rules on who can and canât view itâŠ
Speaking of which, anyone know how to watch the programs on TG4 online? Is there some trick? Am I better off calling my cable company and seeing what type of international packages they offer? ![]()
Cheers!
Matt
The content-bocked sites are available if you want to get into IP-address spoofing (basically, lying about where your computer is located by sending a false IP address).
The TG4 shows are available (for me, at any rate), but you definitely want to use Microsoft Explorer to view them.

Itâs probably because the BBC is publicly funded so they only want licence fee payers to be able to view the material. Also they have a commercial wing which they use to sell BBC material abroad, so theyâve be doing themselves out of money by making it available to those outside the UK.
In my experience US-based sites have more geographical restrictions than most other countries.

Yeah, I guess I will have to try the IE/proxy spoof to see if I can get it to work. I hear you on the BBC licensing issues, thatâs probably exactly what is going on here.
There was a really enjoyable series on the BBC a couple of years ago called âHow Music Worksâ hosted by Howard Goodall and I am STILL waiting for them to release it on DVD. Even if itâs on R2, I have an R2 DVD player, and would love a copy.
Matt
Thanks for that Davy.
