What, no hardingfele? ![]()
Ronan wasn’t fazed by that fly that landed on his arm, either. Don’t they have security to deal with things like that? ![]()
As well as playing pipes, flute and whistle, Ronan makes up tunes all on his own, creating strange (and sometimes very loud) sounds on computers in his recording studio An Tobar Fuaime.
He’s John Cage and Seamus Ennis!
I didn’t know John Cage could make reeds! ![]()

Nice one Liam! Made my day ![]()
Pat.
i see this is another PC only (no mac) clip.
I think you can see it sitting on the floor behind him.
Caoimhín told me that these days he usually prefers to play the Hardanger with the whistle due to its bright sound.
Can’t wait to see the full episode!
Brazenkaine–I use a Mac and the clip played fine for me. If it’s some kind of Windows Media File, you might need to download a Windows Media viewer like Flip4Mac or something.
Ronan Browne: Certainly, there are no flies on him…and yet…one visited for a moment!

see your pm
I’m on a Mac and could play the web clip with Flip4Mac installed, but when I tried to play the link to the full show I got a message that said “We are sorry but this programme is only available to play in Ireland”. What’s up with that?
I’ve got Flip4mac on my MacBook here (Mac OS X 10.5.2), and it still says I’m lacking the necessary plug-in… Why any organization would post something online in a proprietary format these days is quite confusing. ![]()
I’m in California and had no problem watching this clip. Great stuff. I have realplayer on my Mac and I believe that’s what popped up to play the vid. Best of luck, it really is a sweet bit of music.

The restriction has nothing to do with file format or what type of computer you have. The restriction is being imposed by RTÉ themselves, by filtering according to the regional settings in your IP address.

This is a recent restriction, i’ve downloaded the complete series 1 and the first one of the new series but when I went to download episode 2 I got the same message. Why have they imposed this restriction now ?
I believe it is a real player implementation of the video; I viewed it here in Southern California with no problem. I have real player v 10 on my mac and it works fine.
Grr…BBC does the same thing with their iPlayer…
As much as I’m not generally into violating the law, it’d be awfully nice if someone with the means could post this on YouTube or something…
Yes, both the full shows and the web-only clips are all in Real format, but the error message that is coming up on the Season 2 shows says you are not allowed to view the show if you are outside of Ireland. You can only watch the web-only clips. The reason they give for this new restriction is copyright</A](http://www.rte.ie/info/avfaq.html">copyright</A)>.
Season 1 was not restricted, and is still available to view from the same site.
