bag covers?

Where are some good places to find bag covers? And what are some recommendations. I’d like to find something that’s non-slippery…I’m sicking of sweating all over my bag during summer.

(Control! Self-control! That’s what we need here! Will not say it. Nope, will not will not will not.)

Wakey-wakey! Those are GHB covers you are looking at.

There have been several threads in the past regarding bag covers. Do a Search. UP bags sizes are NOT standard. Wholesalers like L&M make UP bags to custom size per the pipemaker. This means you must get someone to make a properly sized cover for you custom. If you can’t find someone on-line to make UP covers for you, you may have to get your girlfriend or a local seamstress to make one for you.

The best type of material is a velveteen as used in upholstery. You may have to shop around, as not all fabric stores sell this stuff. The good news is that you can get some really lovely holstein or zebra patterned upholstery fabrics.

Hastings makes and regularly features on Ebay covers for uilleann pipes:

I realize that their website shows GHB covers (obviously their largest customer base), but they do make them for UPs.

I’ve never ordered from them (I’m lucky – one of my wife’s hobbies is sewing), but understand that they’ll custom fit your particular bag.

I have this stuff on my GHB cover and it’s brilliant. It totally eliminates slippage. It can look a bit gaudy though but if you get the non-slip in black and put it on a dark cover it’s no too bad. The industrial name for the material is Dycem.

It would probably work great on your popping strap too.

You might inquire to Seth Gallagher about a bag cover, at http://uilleann.com/otherproducts.html (and scroll to the bottom of that page) .
