It just aired here in PA on WYBE, and I only caught a piece of it-there was a male Sean-Nois singer that was excellent, and I’d like to know who it was-anyone know who it might be? He was on towards the end of the program, and he was probably in his 40’s-tall, thin, with hair! Don’t know the tune, but it was lovely!

Ha! So that’s actually been broadcast on TV and is available at Amazon. I wondered if they’d ever get it out to the wider world. I was there when a number of the sets were filmed (Mahers Bahers, Bobby Watt, Patrick Ourceau, and one or two others I think) and am clearly visible several times.
My guess is you’re thinking of Sean Keane, who matches your description and is the closest thing to a male sean-nos singer in the program. The only other choices are Bobby Watt (not thin) and Archie Fisher (in his 60s), both of whom are fine singers, but neither of whom performed anything I’d describe as sean-nos on those DVDs.
Yes! Sean Keane-that’s him! Thanks guys, you’ve both been very helpful! And, it seems it was probably the last airing around here (probably until next year, I imagine), so the DVD’s would be a great way to go, since they are not that expensive either.
Funny, in the last month, I’ve found 2 Irish singers that I liked, and both were men (usually I’m drawn to the female voices). The other guy I liked was when I heard ‘Spancil Hill’ sung by Christie Moore on an ecard. He’s got a great voice too, and sounds like an old soul. I was picturing someone in their 70’s or 80’s when I heard him!
