I posted this over on the string forum, but thought that people here would like it too.
I know, I know, ukulele is really lame, right? WRONG! Check Jake out…
I’ve played the uke for almost 40 years. It may be misunderstood but it’s not lame. Jake is a force of nature on the uke. I first saw him opening for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones a few years back. Fascinating player! You gotta go see him.
And, regarding that clip, remember that George Harrison was an avid uke player.
Just got back from the concert and it was astounding. Just Jake, his Uke and a PA system. He played Flamenco, George Harrison, Michael Jackson (Thriller),
Bluegrass, etc, etc. Most were his own compositions. Jake seems like a really humble, appreciative guy who just loves sharing his music. His technique is out of this world.
Do check out his website (Google his name) and check out his touring schedule. He’s touring almost literally all over the world and you owe it to yourself to see him. You’ll thank me.
