He’s an awesome guitarist with a cool way of playing to say the least. I haven’t heard of any similar tapping guitarists with the same style, but I’m sure they’re out there.
Anyway, check these out and be amazed by the wonderful music:
I wonder what his version of “Taps” would sound like.
Are those his own nails on his right hand? They look it, but its hard to tell in the videos. I could never get my nails to grow strong enough. Even with acrylic on them, they would split and break off.
If you like this sort of thing, you might give a listen to Preston Reed, too (I’d never heard of him, but a friend dragged me to a concert he did recently, and I was impressed). There are quite a few videos on YouTube, and even a few of others performing his music.
The first two look like he’s playing the guitar as if it were a dulcimer, though I’m sure the dulcimer players here will correct me, but that’s what I immediatly thought of.
Beg to differ, Paul… tricky, but definitely possible. Hammer-on’s and pull-off’s are viable techniques for strings, and quite effective on guitar, as are the thumps and pecks, and if not common … the combination is quite impressive when done well, and this guy seems to have made it an art all his own.
Wow, Eric Roche’s fingers are incredible!
The secret to his powers is probably in his hair…
if he ever cuts it, he’ll only be able to play power chords.
