Since it’s been confusing people, I’m starting a NEW thread about Volume 2 of the “Wooden Flute Obsession” CDs.

Here’s an experiment: I’ve posted a single MP3 file ( beware 3.5 MB! ) with the first 10 seconds of each of the 22 tracks on Disc 1 of Wooden Flute Obsession volume 2, in track order (sorry, the track order list page is not loaded yet). Much as the index function of some CD players would preview them. I’ve now done the same for Disc 2. You’ll find them at http://www.worldtrad.org/WFO2_CD2.htm

I’ll post a message here when the volume 2 CDs are available for sale. Right now, they should have finished at the printers, and the CD replication is underway. Silk-screening and assembly may take place later this week.

It is certainly the classic wooden flute CD, as far as I’m concerned :party:

In anticipation, I purchased An Gaoth Aduaidh (The North Wind), a CD of solo flute playing from the Irish Tradition. It was suggested to me by Philippe Varlet, and I have enjoyed it greatly.

Not as much sallivating here as biting my nails in nervous antecipation…

I love the North Wind, actually i think it’s my favourite flute CD now. Did you notice it’s just flute, nothing else? These guys play so well that sometimes i don’t notice.

I have a North Wind CD autographed by all the players, which my friend Emily brought from Ireland to me! :smiley: Isn’t that nice? I’d marry her if i wasn’t already married (or if we both lived in Utah).

Doc, I was able to order the CD by login directly into PayPal (this will only work if you have a PayPal account, of course) and sending money along with a note to Kevin re: which CD I was ordering; Kevin will have to give you his PayPal account name for this to work (sorry, I don’t have it to hand). The ordering links on the page didn’t work for me, either.

It’s nice, this CD. Tara Diamond is playing some jigs right now; good stuff!

The actual working links to PayPal for buying one or both are down at the bottom of the page. You have to scroll down a bit farther. I ordered both (what a deal) and my PayPal payment went through in seconds. Now if Kevin could just do something about replacing the USPS with a transporter beam … :smiley:

The issue is if you don’t have a working PayPal account, or if (like me) your PayPal account is screwed up and their Customer Service folks (ha!) aren’t responsive.

I can see why small businesses and non-profits like PayPal. But I far prefer to either send a check or use my credit card directly - and the direct credit card link seems to be broken.

What has been a problem for some is my use of Frames, and MS Frontpage screwing up on letting me open new windows properly. I don’t have time to fix it right now, as I’ve been packing and labelling some 200 CDs. I’m regretting this being a non-paying gig. Please bear with me, I should have all orders cleared before the weekend.

What works for some is to right-click the appropriate PayPal link for the appropriate set & destination, and Open in New Window (Windows Operating Systems context menu). If that doesn’t help, people need to set their browser’s (MS Internet Explorer, usually) security settings to Zero. PayPal apparently uses cookies to control the session where you complete the info, particularly for direct credit card payment.

Lastly, one can always go directly to PayPal ( http://www.paypal.com ) and use the SEND MONEY function to send the appropriate funds to KEVIN@WORLDTRAD.ORG, , which is the non-profit’s account.

Sorry, about the trouble ordering. It will be some weeks before the CDs go into distribution and Amazon.com .

Well, I started with disc 2, because I wanted to hear Peter Molloy, of whom an East Coast friend of mine speaks highly, so I don’t think I was too overly enthusiastic. Speaking of rushing to judgement . . . Sheesh.

I like most of the tracks, and especially like the inclusion of a number of flute-only recordings. A couple of tracks weren’t my bag, but considering the number of tracks included, the hit-to-miss ratio was pretty high (for me, anyway). On my stereo, the second disc played at an appreciably higher volume for some reason than did the first (with the stereo’s volume control set at the same place, I mean), but I didn’t notice any particularly odd recording artifacts or anything, though I was also doing some work on the computer at the time, so I haven’t just sat down and done nothing but listened.

the set by Tom McElvogue on a Boosey F flute is tremendous!
got me grabbing for my own F flute more frequently and listenting to tunes in a different way. What brightness. And, the F flute really responds to some ornaments much more favorably than a D.
Not to mention it’s like having my old Fife days back. So small and easy to play! Yes!

Tom McElvogue, called by Niall Keegan as the best traditional player around (his opinion, yes, but he’s not far off), will have a full album this year (we can hope) and I, for one, will be there for it. Terrific, terrific playing.

Way to go, Kevin. A wonderful inclusion!
