Very fantasy-adventure. I expect a strange flying beast in the sky.
Reminded me of the cover illustrations for THIS.
Yay - new Desktop pic!
Thanks
Good thought for a desktop! Actually I thought it reminded me of the Navigators in Dune. Also, for those cyclists out there, the bright spot to the right is La Mongie, where the Tour ends some of the haut catagorie climbs.
I started looking at the picture in detail. There are no star tracks, and the building is fairly well defined, no intense shadows, yet the light out of the windows doesn’t burn out the surrounding details. I’m thinking this has been manipulated a bit to get that kind of detail. Any comments???
Just chiming in with my impressions–
One is that after looking at this for a while I made a nice HOT cup of tea and remembered how my dad used to take me out stargazing. It was a small telescope but you could see the moons of Jupiter, and a hint of Saturn’s rings. I remember being fascinated, and totally frozen, because he’d pick bitter cold nights to go out.
This slice taken near the horizon looks very much like an illustration from Tolkien
I had the same question! I’m hoping Tyler will show up to give us further clarification (he was talking about something similar a few days ago).
Looks like there are some very short star trails. Also, it appears to have been worked on a little bit. Could have been done a little better, because it looks like stars where there should be earth. ![]()
Mystery solved. I showed my son the picture and he said that it was three exposures, one for the building, one for the night sky and one for the mountains. Overlaid as layers in Photoshop and composited together.
Sounds like High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography.
I just heard about this recently. Neat stuff.
yes, that what my son called it- HDR
