Who has the largest collection of whistles?

Hi all,
I’ve only been playing whistle for about 2 months now, but it seems there are people on here who have been tootling for decades, so my question to you, just out of interest, is who has the most whistles - of any shape and sort? Im currently on 3.

We’re not including people who sell whistles for a living, just people’s personal collections.

That would undoubtedly be our very own Jessie Driscoll. … or at least it was a while back… mind boggling! I was nearly overwhelmed with fits of jealousy!!

When she’s not making jewelry and being a mommy, she must do a lot of playing… flute and whistle.

Dale must run a close second, I would imagine.

I’ve accumulated 30 or so, mostly old. I’m pretty sure that won’t get me into the top 100 in this contest, but there’s still time.

The winner will get some sort of prize. Maybe. The prize will not be provided by me.

More than I’ve got these days

On this thread from the past, PhilO had the largest number of whistles:

It’s worth checking out that old thread just to have a look at Stewy’s Avatar :boggle:

Hey Phil, you still got that Olwell Bamboo F flute? I’m still looking for one…

Loren

It’s not me anymore. Dale certainly has the most. He doesn’t sell any! I sold most of mine. I bet I have fewer than 20 now (or around there anyway).

I thought I remembered a large turnover in prep for paying for a glorious flute… .. how much longer on that??

And Hail to all those who have taken such temptations off the market for po folk like me.

Hey Loren - Yep, still have it; I think it bent a bit, but still sounds the same. I’ve sold off some of the herd but still have about 90 or so. But, like I said, after getting that Abell set, I just might sell 'em all! (except the set).

Philo

It’s not important how many you have - it’s what you can do with any one.

…and then, of course it would matter who that one would be!

A long time longer. It has been delayed due to the skyrocketing (but slowly lowering) precious metals markets. It hasn’t been started yet.

Just keep repeating… “Patience is a virtue… patience is a virtue… patience is a virtue…”

Though somehow I’m reminded of the vultures sitting on the dead branch with one saying “Patience, hell! I’m gonna kill something!!”

Patience, yes. I am teaching my daughter about patience and she’s doing well with it. I am far better at instrument patience than I used to be, but pregnancy patience is wearing very thin.

ah yes… pregnancy patience… new mantra… “this, too, shall pass… this, too, shall pass…” … and may it do so quickly and safely!

I would have to say The Whistle Shop has the largest selection of whistles. cough collection…

I don’t know how many I have. I gave up trying to keep up or inventory them. I don’t sell them–in fact, I don’t THINK I’ve ever sold a single whistle.

I also don’t have any idea if I have the largest collection. I would imagine that Joanie Madden has a large collection. Someday soon I’ll try to do a rough “head” count.

Dale

If I was still actively adding to my collection, I’d still have quite a number to fill in, actually. (The following, really, is not a hint.)

I don’t own a Grinter. I’d like to get a couple O’Mack Hoovers. I’ve got some early models. I’d love to play (or own) an O’Riordan Low D.
