Some of us have more WhoA then others. This year is coming to an end soon, and I nominate Blackhawk as the man with the most WhoA. I do not remember how many whistles I have traded or bought from him. How many do you have from Blackhawk
As an online whistle acquisition disorder diagnosis expert, I have to say Tucson Whistler, you are in a state of delusional denial and your prognosis for complete cure is not looking very good.
Keep taking the medication!
I too am in the same boat, not sure how many you had, at one point I was up in the 20ās Now I am down to five⦠And thinking of shrinking a little more maybe⦠then again just tonight I was tempted buy when given a nice offer so who nows maybe I am just in denial of some kind right nowā¦
I think the disease tends to go into a type of āremissionā, when one is fortunate enough to acquire the instruments that suit one the bestā¦
Cheers.
Byll
I got 8 whistles since Iāve started (about 3½ months ago), itās not bad, is it?
I would have 50 whistles if I could, but every time I want to buy something I should order it from USA, so itās more expensive to me. Anyways, Iām thinking in a lot of new acquisitions in the next few months!
Very true, once you have tried so many you know what you like and donāt and your numbers āCanā Shrink. Some just like the thrill of having alot and collecting though. For me I found the brands and sound I like and can play with the best. So now with the exception of curiosity of new makers⦠which my gosh since I came back to these boards has changed in the last 5 years. I donāt need much more than a favorite whistle in each key I play⦠Low D, Low G, A, C, D
Iāve pretty much found the D that gets the job done day in and day out for me, thoughā¦now I need to get a C to match it, and a good tunable low D and Iāll be good
I play and love low whistles. 5 Burkes. 2 MKs. 2 Copelands. 1 Overton.
These lovelies seem to be the only serious āgourmet-styleā tastes I possess. But I DO thoroughly enjoy the different voices, textures and handling-qualitites of these instruments. They are all a joy to play.
Therefore, I am always open to try new Low Whistles to thoughtfully add to my little bouquet. There are many beautiful flowers in this meadow.
On the other hand, I HAVE traded off many a whistleā¦and have a secret admiration for those of us who find that ONE ALL-SUFFICIENT WHISTLE!!!
I too havenāt bought a new whistle in a long time - not since my trip to Ireland the summer before last; Iām stuck at erā¦98 now. But, thatās including cheapies and multiple bodies with one head (not all 98 with one head, although Iāll bet Erle could give that a good run).
I use my Generation nickel D, my Feadog D when the Gen clogs or something, my Generation brass C, and my Sindt A. I used to have a low D, but I realized I donāt really care for low whistles. So I bought a flute, which has taken over my entire life.
I am yet to fall victem to WhoA. I have two whistles that I play: a low D alba and a high D alba. I have two whistles I donāt play: a Clarke Origional D and a rather cheap whistle I bought at a tourist trap.
I have 20-some-odd whistles, I am sure my whoa would be worse could I afford all the whistles I would like. But in the meantime, I am content with what I have.
