Who do you know that can REPAIR Highland Bagpipes ?

I bought a set of highland bagpipes several years ago from Scott Morton in Canada and now have a large crack in the blowpipe stock from top to bottom.

Since I believe he is no longer making pipes - does anyone have a recomondation of a GOOD maker who can make repairs?

I’ve seen several excellent examples of Mark Cushing’s restoration work.

Out here in California there’s a fantastic pipemaker named Michael Hubbert who does amazing restoration work as well. He has done work for me, some great work on a 150-year-old Glen set and a 100-year-old Lawrie set. You can check out Hubbert’s site for photos of his amazing craftsmanship.

Jim MacGillivray, a world-class piper who trades in high-end classic bagpipes such as MacDougalls etc, uses Thomas Ducet for his restoration work I believe. You can check out MacGillivray’s site for closeup photos.

By the way, there are many people who are convinced that Scott Morton was/is only a dealer of pipes, stamping his name on pipes made by others. Go to bobdunsire and do a search with the keyword “morton” and you can read a very lengthy thread which debates whether or not Morton makes pipes. Scott himself chimes in on the thread.
