Having done a search I came up with very little on the Whitney whistle. The one review I did find was favorable. Is there anyone familiar with these that could give me some extra input? Thanks
Seems like a good buy considering the price, and it looks like it’s made well. I have only seen at Song of the Sea. Is that where you found it?
Out of curiousity, what is your motivation now, for looking at a Whitney?
I picked up a Whitney whistle at Song of the Sea this past September while on vacation. It might have been my post you read.
The whistles are made by a local guy who puts out at Bar Harbor. He works on one of the fishing boats. He told the owner of Song that he just wanted a nice quiet whistle for himself. I thought it was cool that they were locally made, by a man of the sea no less!
It is a great little whistle. You probably won’t find much on them because the fella is just so local. He is not interested in mainstreaming his whistles. He sells some to Song of the Sea when he gets them made and thats about it. If you are lucky enough to find one while passing thru …well, you are lucky.
The whistle is brass and the craftmanship rivals any I have seen. He has fashioned a celtic band around the bottom of the mouthpiece that is very intriciate and very , very close to perfect. Great workmanship. Whistle sounds wonderful thru both octaves, and this is really a big deal for me…it DOES NOT CLOG!!! I am famous in my own circle of one for slobbering in my whistles causing untold misery to myself. I don’t slobber when I kiss…I just don’t get it. ANYHOW…I have tried to clog this whistle and just can’t do it. I can get thru 10 tunes with no problem. The sound is sweet with just a hint of chiff.
If you order one and are lucky enough to get one you won’t regret it for an instant.
Whitney whistles while hubby does time!
So sorry but I can’t resist for the life of me an unfinished statement or something that appears to beg for a completion.

quick wit there Mark
The main reason for my inquiry about them is because they are there,Whoa is me. Actually I saw them Listed on the Song of the sea website and they struck me as beautiful.
I’m about to list some whistles for sale so as not to feel guilty for buying more whistles like say a Whitneyor a Reyburn d/c combo or a low G or…oh dear, oh dear!
