I’ve played Steve’s Overton low F side to side with another Overton low F and an Alba F, and the purple Overton low F has a special and amazing sound, even for an Overton. Remarkable, rare and stunning sound.
(I know it sounds drastic, Jens, but don’t worry, I have another one! Az, how much are we talking about?)
The Reyburn is still up for grabs. A nice whistle for playing airs. Could be ideal for those whose cup of tea is not an Overton, and who favour a purer, woodier sound.
One of the finest and most skilled whistle players I have ever come across thought it was great. He preferred its clearer sound to that of the Overton. (I should point out that all he ever plays is a beat-up old Susato D. Az knows who I mean.)
