I’m trying to afford an expensive whistle a friend offered me off board. I’ll pay all shipping in the lower 48 states, need to charge for shipping elsewhere. Please contact me via PM.
What did you think of the offset holes on the Reyburn, Blackhawk? I thought about getting one once, I got to try one that Doc Jones owned. The Reyburn F is not offset, right?
Hi Ava, the offset holes are great for making it easy for a person who’s new to the finger stretch for a low D. But if someone is already used to that on other low Ds, it’s hard to make the offset holes work for them. If this were a Reyburn low D with in line holes, it wouldn’t be for sale. I love the sound that much. And the Reyburn F has in-line holes, yes. Not the offset.
I have a Reyburn low D with in-line holes. I’ll pack it along to East Durham for anyone who’d like to try it. A remarkable whistle, very expressive. I should be singing Ronaldo’s praises on the board more often.
I love his Standard bore Low D, but I don’t like his new high whistles. I find them uninteresting in tone. His first high d whistles were terrific - not as loud as the current ones, but a very pleasing tone. After I did a positive review, he totally reconfigured the design. He says he’s going for the O’Riordan sound. He’s not there yet, and he lost something along the way, in my opinion. Dale disagrees. He is very impressed with the new whistles. L.E. McCullogh (sp?) is also said to like them. To each his own.
Hmm, so it looks like it takes conversation to sell whistles these days. What shall we talk about next then? Hey BH, what are the differences between the O’Briain low F and the Reyburn low F, in your opinion?
