Hey all I was just wondering if anyone out there knows of any whistle shops or shops that sell mainly flute like instruments in the Bay Area region or north of that in California. I think it would be neat to go and try out whistles and actually hold them before I purchase them (unlike the internet). Also does anyone know of any whistling events in that region, since i’m not too new but would like to actually see someone else play a whistle to get more ideas (other than what i’ve gotten from four whistle tune books). Let me know what you guys think.
Lark in the Morning, in SF and Mendocino, are the only ones that I know of. I really don’t think much of the expensive ones I have seen and played there.
I strongly suggest you come to our next whistle gathering. You will see and play more whistles there than in any store.
Sorry, but there is not yet an announced date, but perhaps in July in El Sobrante if Tony is up for it. Other possibility would be down in San Jose. It will be worth the drive for whistle exposure, I guarantee it.
