One of the nicest human beings I know, Mr. Chris Johnson, of the Louisa May Alcott Center for the Performing Arts (Kansas City, KS) has had the misfortune of requiring multiple-bypass cardiac surgery. Chris has no insurance, and the bills are, in a word, incredible. I am donating a brand new, engraved Serpent Viper high D, with a leather bag, to the cause, and am offering it here for raffle.
Value of the whistle and bag is $115.00 USD. The winner can choose any of the finishes and engraving motifs. You can see a similar whistle here: http://www.serpentmusic.com/tbrassserpent.html The finish shown is satin, but bright polish is also available.
Price of a ticket is $10.00 USD, and I will ship anywhere in the world, using Global Priority if it’s out of the USA. There is no shipping charge for this whistle.
The drawing will be held on August 9th, and all proceeds go to Chris.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity, and your impeccable taste in whistles!

The raffle ends at noon CDT (GMT -6) on August 9th.
The drawing will follow the raffle.
The winner will be announced on the board and the KCRF group immediately following the drawing.
I will ship the whistle within 5 working days from the end of the raffle, probably on the 11th.
I have one. Well, I guess I really have 3 since I have the Brass Trio set. I recently received the new and improved head for mine. I liked it before but it is even better now. It definitely is a wonderful whistle! They not only look nice, but they sound really nice too.
Serpie-Pie Bill, you really are a nice man for helping out your friend this way. I hope you sell alot of raffle tickets.
Okay, you are proving that you are all the best people in the world. You have more than doubled the contribution level, which as of this writing, stands at $260.00!! So here is my bonus for you…
If you contribute to this cause, whether you win or not, I will give you the same deal on any one of my whistles that I give to members of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival - that is, 1/2 of the retail price and no shipping charges. You can see the new line here, with their prices:
Claim your discount by purchasing through PayPal, and letting me know which whistle and key you want. I also will not charge for engraving, so knock yourselves out! You want a coiled Serpie-Pie, you got it!
This is ONLY for people who purchase one or more raffle tickets, please, and is my way of saying a very sincere “THANK YOU!!!” to you for your generosity and caring.
As always, Chiff and Fipple folk are the best!!!
Thanks, again,

A very, very tempting offer!! Serpent, for those of us not familiar with your whistles, can you tell me the difference between the Dreadnought high D and the Viper high D?
The Viper is a medium-bore whistle and is loud enough to play in session.
The Dreadnought is a large-bore whistle and will blast through fiddles and bodhrans as if they weren’t there. It uses about as much air as your average low D, to accomplish this volume. A Dreadnought can be heard for about a half-mile (depends on terrain). It was made in response to complaints about the whistles being drowned out by the fiddles and drums in session. Not any more!

Hey Bill; count me in any way, but, now that you’re offering and I just got a Viper from you and want more, a question or two please.
Do all the whistles in the half off offer have the new heads (delrin fipples?)
I’m sort of torn between the Dreadnought (after all what are neighbors for, but to fight with?) and the Anaconda. Does the Anaconda come in keys other than Bflat? (I guess that’s really three questions, huh?, rats, now four…).
A superlative humanitarian effort! I would like to participate. I have had to fund my “PayPal” from my bank account so give me a few days. I WILL make the deadline though. Best wishes for your friend, and please begin a serpent engraved Eb whistle for my possession (asap).
Ps - Don’t forget to take this donation off your taxes this year, both the auction, and the value of the discount incentive. You’re entitled, and deserving.
You’re a piece ‘o’ work, Phil! A great one! Thank you! On to your questions… The Delrin fipples are only in the Python model, as brass is just simply too heavy there.
The Anaconda is available in A, B-flat, and C. At D, I modify the window and blade and it becomes a Dreadnought. High C is as high as the Anaconda goes, as such and A is the bottom.
The raffle ends tomorrow at noon CDT (GMT -6). To date, we have done a remarkable job, both C&F and KCRF. I have a good number of people who are amazingly generous, even without the whistle half-price incentive, and you are ALL super!!
All you have to do is go to http://www.paypal.com and make a $10.00USD per ticket payment to sales@serpentmusic.com and be SURE to include your contact info, and that it’s for the raffle.
The real prize is helping an extremely nice man out of a huge health related financial jam. The whistle prize is a Serpent Viper high D, engraved with the serpent, plus a whistle bag, and no charges for shipping. And if you donate, you have the option of ordering any whistle I make for half price, no shipping charge, and no charge if you want it engraved.
Well, Serpent, you sure know how to drive a hard bargain.
Best wishes to your friend for a speedy recovery. Knowing he has great friends will help with the dangerous post-operative depression when the bills come.
