Which Gan Ainm?

Does anybody out there have the dots for the tune (I believe it’s a reel) ‘Gan Ainm’ which Muireann nic Amhlaoibh plays on her new CD ‘Daybreak’? It’s in the set that starts (I think) with ‘The Humours of Whiskey’ … I’m learning it, but my digital recorder failed on me when my teacher kindly played it through at a manageable pace :swear:
I tried searching various sites, but as you can imagine there are about 400 Gan Ainms!

“Gan ainm” means “without name” and is often used when the name of the tune has been forgotten.

I know  that’s what’s made it so hard to find! Irishtune.info list a whole bunch, and even though I believe it to be a reel I haven’t been able to identify it. Ah well … maybe I will just have to learn something else!

If you can work out the first bar, try an “ABC” search on thesession.org

Or listen to it lots of times and try to play the bits that you pick up, then get your teacher to play it for you again and fill in the missing bits.

Yeah - I was being cheap (he has the CD and I don’t) Guess I will have to go buy it!

I tried to see if I could put this into ABC, but she ornaments and leads the beat heavily, and it is beyond my simple notation skills. Once you have bought the CD, put it through some slow-downer software and you should be able to pick it up. Its not a particularly difficult reel, but she is a very fast, very clean player, so there’s a lot going on in there. Its probably easier to learn to play it than to notate it.

Many thanks for that. I will do as you suggest! It is a lovely tune, imho, and more than enough to keep me busy at this stage!
