I’m looking for a transcription of Planxty Gan Ainm, recorded by John Faulkner on the Rounder album “Celtic Magic.” Can anyone out there direct me to an online archive or tunebook that might have it? I’ve checked JC tunefinder, and came up empty. Many thanks. Cheers.
Dang! That Gang Ainm guy wrote a lot of tunes. Almost as many as the famous Renaissance composer, Anonymus…
The problem is that Gan Ainm means “without a name”. That covers a wealth of tunes in my repertory! 
Keep fergettin’ 'em…

How can you even have a Planxty Gan Ainm? Doesn’t Planxty mean “tune in honor of…”? So I thought if there is one tune that can’t be Gan Ainm, it has to be a Planxty—if it doesn’t have a name you can you tell it’s planxty? Maybe Faulkner was having a bit of a laugh when he came up with that one.
Maybe he wrote it in his starving artist days…“Tune in Honor of the Unknown Patron”.
Or else his memory’s gone dicey.
